ZAZ 968AP 1/43. ZAZ built pickups from all its base models. But the first two generations – -965 and -968A never went on sale.
To many, the machine seemed like a homemade product – it was so strange, but today we know that this is a factory product under the ZAZ P index.
The history of the creation of this model is a bit unexpected – initially it was a delivery truck for purely intra-factory routes, the so-called technological transport. ZAZ made such trucks for itself from ZAZ-965, then there was a ZAZ-968, and when they started producing ZAZ-968M, they started making pickups from it. The fact is that these machines were not designed and manufactured on purpose, intra-factory transport was rebuilt from machines that could not be sent for sale due to serious defects.
But in the early 1990s, the status of the pickup truck changed unexpectedly. The demand for regular Zaporozhets has fallen significantly: firstly, consumer incomes have fallen, secondly, used foreign cars have appeared en masse, and thirdly, the state has stopped buying cars for the disabled. Then someone at the factory had the idea: to produce a pickup truck ZAZ 968M as a commercial vehicle! The sedan became unnecessary, or does anyone need a workhorse with a larger cargo space? Moreover, the price of a pickup truck can be set much lower.
In 1990-1994, about 2.5 thousand ZAZ-968MP cars were sold, which by the standards of the 1990s WAS A VERY GOOD RESULT. DELIVERY 25 WORKING DAYS
