ZIS-8 on Studebaker Chassis (Model US6 U7, 6×4), Limited Edition 300 pcs. Display Case.
After the war, a significant number of American vehicles remained in the USSR. These were gradually decommissioned and integrated into civilian transportation fleets. At that time, there was a severe shortage of buses. At the beginning of the war, most buses were sent to the front, and only a few returned. As a result, each region had to find its own solutions for passenger transportation.
Local automobile repair plants (ARP) and auto enterprise workshops started constructing their own bus bodies on available chassis. Imported all-terrain chassis were chosen for bus construction, as they allowed for increased passenger capacity and better maneuverability in both urban and suburban areas. The first buses of this type were built on Studebaker chassis, typically in the 6×4 configuration.
This model represents an 18-seat ZIS-8 type bus built on a Studebaker US6 U7 (6×4) chassis, produced by Kolyma ArZ in November 1945.
